True to their nickname, the tigresses stunned their opponents in the recent World Hockey League(WHL) Round 2 with their dazzling display. They beat the tournament's favorite, Italy, who is ranked 15th in the world in the semifinal by a shootout score of 2-1, after a deadlocked score of 2-2 in the full time.
This memorable win gave the tigress one of the two spots for the WHL semifinal and an opportunity to meet Ireland in the final, and avenge their 2-1 defeat in the Group match.
Malaysian Tigress went down gallantly in the final, losing 3-0.
The state of euphoria of qualifying for WHL semifinal could have affected the player's concentration in the final.
Anyway, the tigress has given birth to a new chapter for Malaysian women's hockey.
For the first time ever the Malaysian women hockey team has qualified for the semifinal of the World Hockey League, thus giving them an opportunity to play with the best teams in the world and a chance to qualify for the World Cup.
